My Fav. Ramen in Town ! Jinya


Ramen Jinya was relatively new, and since it's opening, I no longer remember where I used to go when I wanted ramen. Seriously, where ??? I guess during the B.J. (before Jinya) times, I was just wandering about looking for any ramen place that could satisfy my ramen craving on a cold day. But now, it's Jinya, I don't even consider other ramen places anymore unless I'm hopelessly lazy to go all the way to downtown just for a bowl of noodles. 

Jinya is located on the outskirts of Robson St. , close to the library. It's a small cozy place with simple interior. There's always a wait, so please do remember to write down your name on the waiting board immediately upon arrival. The waitress only calls the names on the board as the queue, so you won't be able to get a table even if you arrive earlier than those people on the list. I was once such victim, so I am now passing you my lesson, my young grasshoppers. 




The menu is fairly simple and typical. Normally, I always go for Shio Ramen with pork broth as base, but Jinya has their special Tonkotsu BLACK ramen. and it tastes amazing. I honestly have no idea what Black means, as I never really read the description and I'm an amateur and irresponsible blogger, so I don't bother to check it too. Maybe you can tell me ! :D


So this Tonkotsu BLACK is one of the most expensive items on the menu, but trust me, it's so worth it. The broth is sooooooooo thick that it's almost like you are drinking from...  I don't know ... melted cheese ? Well, I love cheese, so this description sounds very appetizing to me. But if you don't like cheese, do think of your favorite food, and its broth taste like melted version of that !

The Chashu meat is also very tender and flavorful, so is the egg. I think Jinya's ramens are not as salty as other places' , which I prefer. Ya-Ya-Ya in Richmond, on the other hand, is sooooooooooo salty you can drink an ocean after you have it. Then you will die because ocean water is salty too.


I love these little combos you can make with your ramen nowadays. I don't remember seeing these mini rice bowls back in the days, right ? So I really love these mini chashu bowls, I order them whenever I see them on the menu. They are basically chashu meat on top of regular rice, why are they sooooo gooooooood, I don't knowwwwwww. They just are, and sometimes I secretly go to ramen stores merely hoping to order these. If I can choose, I would totally just order three bowls of this and call it a day. 


Because we want some variety, we also ordered some fried chicken. Actually, not "we", because like I said, I really rather just order bowls after bowls of chashu rice.


I've also tried their Shio Ramen. Ummmm, it's still good but for some reason, it just cannot top BLACK. Okayyyy, so what is Black ? Maybe I'll update this post when I find out at my next visit there, which I hope, is soon :)
